It was a busy day in the East Midlands with Nottingham Forest, Notts County, Mansfield Town and Derby County all completing deals.
Nottingham Forest have tied 18-year-old Swedish goalkeeper Tim Erlandsson to a three-year-deal. Formally of Halmstads BK, Erlandsson spend the majority of this season in Forest’s under 18 team. Teenage striker Tyler Walker, son of Reds legend Des, has also penned a four-year-deal at the club.
Derby County youngsters Josh Lelan and Rhys Sharpe have both left the Rams after failing to agree new deals. Defender Lelan spent time on loan at Swindon this term, but failed to make a first team appearance for his boyhood club. 20-year-old Sharpe has also departed for League Two, but will play his football at Meadow Lane with Notts County next season after agreeing a two-year- deal.
In other League Two transfer news winger Nathan Thomas has joined Mansfield after a successful trial period. The former Motherwell man spend two seasons at Plymouth Argyle before making the move up across the border. He only made two appearances for the Scottish club before agreeing a move back to England.
Exeter City have completed the surprise signing of Bobby Olejnik. The Austrian goalkeeper played the majority of Peterborough United’s games in the Championship season of 2012/13, but has since lost his spot to Ben Alnwick and a move away has been on the cards for a while after uninspiring loan spells at Scunthorpe and York City this term.
Experienced striker Leon Clarke has agreed to join Bury after their promotion to League One. Gigg Lane will be Clarke’s 18th home in a professional career spanning 12 years. He was obviously frustrated at his lack of chances under Kenny Jackett at Wolves, and a move was probably the right decision for a player that under-performed in recent months.
Former Rotherham United defender Richard Brindley has joined Colchester on permanent deal after a brief 8 game stint at the Western Homes Community Stadium last term, where he helped the U’s beat the drop. Former Norwich youth player Cameron McGeehan has joined Luton Town after a successful loan spell at the club in the second half of last season. He scored three goals in 15 games at Kennilworth Road last season. Irish goal machine Barry Corr has made the difficult decision of leaving Roots Hall after flourishing during his 5 seasons with the club. Corr, now 30, netted 63 times in 185 games for the club, but felt the step up to League One may have been a stride too far.
