Sean Dyche will hope for an immediate bounce back to the top flight

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has made his first purchase since ‘The Clarets’ relegation was confirmed in May. Full-back Matthew Lowton joins on a 3-year-deal from Aston Villa and is a direct replacement fro Spurs bound Kieran Trippier. Lowton joined Villa from Sheffield United 3 years ago but failed to make a significant impact at the West Midlands club.  The fee is believed to be in the seven figure area as the defender was tied to Villa until 2017 by his contract.

Charlton Athletic have signed German defender Patrick Bauer from Portuguese side Maritimo on four-year-deal for an undisclosed fee. The former Germany Under-20 international spent two years in the Portuguese league making 45 appearances and netting twice from the backline. At 6ft 4 he will definitely add some physicality to a defence that was found wanting at times last campaign.

League One

Millwall have made two additions to their squad as they prepare for their first season in league One since 2010. Goalkeeper Jordan Archer joins from Spurs on a free, while Joe Martin has made the move from Gillingham. 22-year-old Archer spent the latter stages of the 2014/15 season on loan at the Lions spending his time warming the bench while David Forde was keeping guard. The experienced Forde may leave this summer with better offers bound to fly in from various Championship sides, providing a chance for Archer. Left-back Joe Martin also began his career at White Hart Lane but was forced to move away because of the lack of first team opportunities. He spent two seasons with Blackpool before moving on to his latest club, Gillingham, for whom he made 179 appearances for. He signs on a single year contract.

The final news from League One It that Guyana international Matt Briggs has agreed a deal with Colchester United on a two-year-deal. The former Fulham defender enjoyed the second half of the season on loan at the Essex club making 18 appearances, and finding a permanent home is huge for a player that has had 5 separate loan spells in the past 5 years.

League 2 Two

Former Premier League Full-back Nicky Hunt has joined Mansfield following his release from Accrington Stanley. The 31-year-old spent 9 years with the Bolton before dropping down to the Championship with Bristol City. Injury troubles have prevented him from fulfilling his talent, hence his drop down to the fourth tier and Accrington Stanley. Hunt will add valuable experience to ‘The Stags’ rearguard as the team look to consolidate their League Two status.

Paul Sturrock has confirmed yet two more singings to bolster his thin Yeovil Town squad. mIdfiedlers Jordan Gibbons and striker Shaun Jeffers have both agreed one-year deals. Ex QPR man Gibbons was in the R’s academy since the age of 7, but has had to move because of a lack of competitive action under current boss Chris Ramsay. Jeffers has failed to settle in a permanent home yet in his career but will hope he can start banging in the goals for the Somerset club. He arrives from Newport where he netted 3 times in 22 games last term.
