League One Round-up
Walsall manager Dean Smith has completed his first two signings of the summer with Jason Demitriou and Neil Etheridge joining the League One club on free transfers. Right-back Demitriou spent the past 5 years in Cyprus, but has decided to return to the nation where he began his professional career. The second name through the door is Philippines international Neil Etheridge. The 25-year-old former Fulham man has failed to find a permanent home in recent years. He has spent time on loan with the likes of Bristol Rovers, Crewe Alexandra and Charlton Athletic. But signing this two-year-deal with ‘The Saddlers’ may help him to rebuild his career with regular first team action.
David Mooney has left Leyton Orient after 4 years with the club to join Southend United. He was the clubs leading marksman in ‘Orients’ promotion push last season where they reached the play-off final, but after a poor season the club were relegated, leaving the Irish striker with no option but to leave the Matchroom Stadium. He joins Phil Brown’s men on a two-year-deal after their promotion to the third tier.
Swindon Town have signed promising England youth international Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill on a two-year-contract from Arsenal. The 19-year-old left-back captained the under-18 side last season, along with 15 appearances in the under-21 team.
Scunthorpe United have added former loanee Luke Williams to their squad as they look to improve on last seasons mid table finish. The 22-year-old began last season on loan with ‘The Iron before short spells with Peterborough United and Coventry City. He scored 2 goals in 6 games during his time Glanford Park and will hope to increase his goalscoring talent now he is a permanent
member of the squad.
