Northampton have completed the double signing of Peterborough United defender Shaun Brisley and Darnell Furlong who have both been brought in on short term loans at Sixfields.
Towering centre-half Brisley has found himself sitting on the bench more often than not this season, and with emerging talent Ricardo Santos constantly improving his partnership with DR Congo international Gaby Zakuani a move was always on the cards. The 25-year-old has previously said he would prefer a move back up north for family reasons, the transfer to Posh’s local rivals may not have been the sort of ‘North’ he was looking for. Either way, Brisley is likely to start against Chris Wilder’s old side Oxford United on Saturday due to the injuries to Zander Diamond and Evan Horwood.
Queen’s Park Rangers full-back Darnell Furlong may have hoped for a lucky break and chance in the R’s first team after their relegation from the top flight last term, but the arrival of Paul Konchesky all but evaporated his chances. Furlong is seen as one of the most promising talents at Loftus Road and having made 3 appearances in Chris Ramsay’s side towards the conclusion of last season, game time is the only forward.
