It was an encouraging World Championship debut for Joe Murnan as Andy Hamilton’s 100% first round record was thrown firmly out of the window. ‘The Hammer wasted two darts at double in the third set to progress as Bolton boy Murnan began his fight-back. In what was quite frankly a boring match ridden with missed doubles and poor scoring Murnan was able to take Hamilton to a final set.

Mensur Suljovic was left jumping for joy following a convincing win over Dutch qualifier Jermaine Wattimena.
