Jelle Klaasen progressed to his first ever PDC World Championship semi-final following his dramatic victory over Alan Norris. The Dutchman sparked a tremendous fight back from 3-1 behind to seal his place in the final four. As slight favourite, the pressure was on Klaasen from the start, Norris took advantage of his sluggish start by taking a 1-0 lead. The former Lakeside finalist would go on to take two of the following three sets leaving him within touching distance of the semi-final. Doubles were Klaasen’s downfall early on but his savour as we entered the latter stages. His favoured double 18 worked a treat, pulling him back into the contest. Norris’ who had earlier taken out some outrageous ton plus finishes was left to stand and stare as Klaasen showed the sensational darts he can produce when on form. As the match went into a nail-biting deciding set, Klaasen’s superior experience would pay dividends. The debutant Norris melted under the pressure as Klaasen took out 36 for the match.
