Smith silences Lakeside crowd

Jeff Smith booked his second semi final place in two years with a routine victory over Cambridgeshire based player Dennis Harbour. Early on it looked like an upset could be on the cards as 10 years on from his Lakeside debut, Harbour took a 2 set. Smith slowed down the tempo and managed to drag himself back in to the match and equalise in sets. Harbour bemused of where his scintillating scoring had disappeared to, sped up and allowed the Canadian to dominate the next ten legs. It much be mentioned, since the break, Smith won every single leg! The Isle of Man open champion managed to stop the rot eventually, but by then it was too late.
