Posh will be looking to return to winning ways this weekend after leaving the DW Stadium with a point last time out. Graham Westley will hope Posh’s first point in six matches can act as a springboard to regaining their form from earlier on in his reign.
Vale arrive at the ABAX coming off the back of a three match unbeaten streak, a big win could lift them into the coveted final play-off position. Posh remain in 16th in the League One table, 10 points off the top six. Westley will still believe his players have a shot of Championship promotion with just under two months of the campaign remaining. But realistically we will have so gain maximum points from our final 11 games.
There is an influx of positive team news for the boys in blue. Ben Alnwick has returned to training this week and looks like he could vie for a starting eleven position, replacing last week’s man of the match, Stuart Moore. Instrumental midfield dynamo Chris Forrester is also nearing a return to first team action after 6 weeks on the treatment table. Posh have struggled without the central midfielder pulling the strings and have failed to create enough goal scoring opportunities for numerous forward parings.
Last time out the honours were shared as Ben Alnwick produced a sensational penalty stop to deny Vale taking all three points. Former Yeovil man Sam Foley also cracked the crossbar from 12 yards, but it was Michael Bostwick’s penalty conversion that recued the draw. The Alnwick brothers are likely to go head to head once again on Saturday with Ben’s brother Jak also returning from injury to take his place in the starting line-up.
