Portugal kicked off their Euro 2016 campaign in underwhelming fashion by drawing with Group F underdogs Iceland. Ronaldo was almost invisible throughout the contest, and he will need to be more influential against bottom side Austria.
To many Austria were supposed to be the surprise package of group F. Sporting European stars such as David Alaba and Marko Arnautovic, they were tipped to overpower minnows Hungary. Aleksandar Dragovic’s dismissal was an obvious turning point, but there is no denying Hungary were well worth their win.
An Austria win can be found at as much as 7/2. Which seems like a great offer considering the hype surrounding them entering the tournament. European minnows such as Slovakia and Northern Ireland have seen up turns in form since the second round of fixtures. Let’s hope this pattern continues and Austria collect their first win.
Bayern Munich defender David Alaba was one of few sparks in a dismal Austria performance. With him being on free-kick and penalty duty throughout qualifying the odds are he will get a chance to hit the back of the net. The influential focal point of Autria’s engine room is 6/1 to grab a goal.
Both sides have an Arsenal of attacking talent. Cristiano Ronaldo will be focused on getting his goalscoring tally off the mark, and is just 6/5 to do so. After stumbling out of the blocks but sides will be going all out for a victory. An early goal could spark a real goal fest, I which I feel, will end in deadlock, and leave both sides with a mountain to climb.
Safe bet – Both teams to score 11/10
Long Shot – Draw and over 3.5 goals 33/1
