An international star at Euro 2016, but without a club side, Wales star Hal Robson-Kanu is up for grabs. With the former Reading attacker available for free, why wouldn’t a Championship or even Premier League club take a punt on the spearhead of the Welsh Dragons attack.
What does he bring?
- Excellent hold-up play
- A focal point in attack
- Tireless worker
- Versatility in the attacking third.
The Story so far
After almost a decade of service at the Madejski Stadium, Robson Kanu departed the club he had been with since 2007 after his contract expired. Over the years the 27-year-old has racked up over 200 appearances for the Royals but a change in scenery was needed for both parties.
He was a bit part player under Brian McDermott in Reading’s last Premier League campaign. Approaching his peak at the time, Robson-Kanu may have thought his chances of becoming an established name in the Premier League were over, he may still be wrong!
His most memorable moments have come in recent weeks. He notched the winner in Wales’ opening group game against Slovakia and perhaps more importantly, scored arguably the most important goal in the country’s history when he gave them the advantage against Belgium last night. His performance in the national shirt have certainly caught the eye. Here are a few of the teams after his services.
Who’s after him?
Watford and Southampton are reportedly interested in the summer star, and who could blame them after that sensational goal in last night’s mouth-watering tie in Lille. Both will pay good money for the former Arsenal trainee, which all but rules out him signing for a Championship club this transfer window.
Leeds United were linked prior to his goal-scoring form, but may be resigned to chasing other targets as it could be tough for them to offer what their Premier League counterparts have put on the table.
Whoever snaps up Hal Robson-Kanu has one brilliant player on their hands, a man who puts his all into every match, and has the technical ability to lead the line for many top flight sides. Being on a free it could be a fight to the death to see who wins this race!
